aSSOCIATE pastor

  Dr. Thomas is a Retired Senior Government official with over 53 years of Federal Service.    Born in Ocala, he is a native of Dunnellon, Florida and the youngest child of the late George and Deansie Campbell Thomas.  He has two brothers, the late Roger L. Thomas, and the late Pastor Herbert R. Thomas, Sr.  

A graduate of Jefferson County High School in 1972, he furthered his education by attaining a Bachelor of Arts Degree (Cum Laude) in Psychology; Saint Martin’s College, Lacey, WA; Master of Religious Education (M.R.E.); United Theological Seminary; Master of Theology (Th.M) and Doctor of Ministry (D.Min) from Freedom Bible College and Seminary. He is a member of the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity and a Master Mason.

He entered the United States Army in 1972 and served for 27 years, retiring in 1999 with full military honors as a Field Grade Officer.  Dr. Thomas was licensed to preach the Gospel on August 7, 1978, and Ordained by Dr. Joseph A. Boles, The Saint John Baptist Church, Tacoma, Washington, and The Progressive Baptist Association.  

He and his lovely wife Teresa have a long-standing relationship.  Blessed with five children, they first met while running in the gym and were destined to spend the rest of their lives together running for the Lord.  Teresa, a graduate of National Louis University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration retired from the US Army in 1996 with 20 years of service.  She served as a Customer Service Representative with IIF Data Solutions in Centerville, Virginia and worked with Mission’s & Friends and children church.  Among their favorite passages of scripture is Ephesians 2:8, “For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith and this is not from yourselves, it is a gift of God”.
